Google Weather

This integrationIntegrations connect and integrate Home Assistant with your devices, services, and more. [Learn more] uses Google Weather as a source for weather data for your location.

Prerequisites

You need an API key. Follow instructions in the Google developer documentation for creating an API key.

Note

It is free as long as you stay under 10,000 requests per month.

Configuration

To add the Google Weather service to your Home Assistant instance, use this My button:

Manual configuration steps

If the above My button doesn’t work, you can also perform the following steps manually:

  • Browse to your Home Assistant instance.

  • Go to Settings > Devices & Services.

  • In the bottom right corner, select the Add Integration button.

  • From the list, select Google Weather.

  • Follow the instructions on screen to complete the setup.

Data updates

The integration fetches:

  • current weather conditions every 15 minutes
  • daily weather forecast for the next 10 days every 1 hour
  • hourly weather forecast for the next 24 hours every 1 hour

This results in 4,464 requests per month, meaning you could have up to 2 locations and still stay under the 10,000 free usage cap.

Known limitations

  • Weather forecast information isn’t currently available in South Korea and Japan. Refer to the Google Help Center.

Troubleshooting

Removing the integration

To remove an integration instance from Home Assistant

  1. Go to Settings > Devices & services and select the integration card.
  2. From the list of devices, select the integration instance you want to remove.
  3. Next to the entry, select the three dots menu. Then, select Delete.
